Changing my topic

After talking to my mentor about my topic, I realised that my area was too broad and I had to pin it down more. Therefore, I have slightly changed my topic to 'Why do people believe in astrology?'. I will evaluate some of the claims that are about astrology and argue for both points of view. Furthermore, I will look at some of the ways in which horoscopes are viewed by mainstream society for my EPQ. Everything else will be the same like the presentation and the types of data used. I am going to interview two people with good knowledge of astrology and ask questions about why they they choose to believe in it and how they use it in everyday life. I will produce a video including reenactments of the interviews and breaking down some myths about astrology. I chose a video option as I can reach a wider audience and portray my topic on a creative platform.

Choosing my topic

To begin with, had two ideas for my topic. One being animal testing. I would have focused on pros and cons of medical and cosmetic animal testing and if it is really necessary, presenting it in a video format. However, I found this topic to be boring as I know quite a lot about this area and I wanted to learn something new. Instead I chose my other option, astrology and natal chart reading. I have been interested in astrology for a while and wanted to incorporate it into my school work as I didn't have much time to learn about it at home. I will present my EPQ in a video format using a sample natal chart and analysing it. I will explain what each of the planets mean and how their position affects your personality.
