Source Evaluation

The Astrology Book - The Encyclopedia of Heavenly Influences by James R. Lewis. Second Edition.

"Sun-sign astrology, which is the kind of astrology one finds in newspapers and magazines, has the advantage of simplicity—all one needs to know is one’s birthday to be able to figure out one’s sign—but this simplicity is purchased at the price of ignoring all other astrological influences. The other important celestial bodies, for example, were all located in signs at the moment of birth. Thus, someone with a Scorpio Sun sign might also have a Sagittarius Moon sign, a Virgo Venus sign, a Libra Mercury sign, etc. Each of these other signs has an influence, which is why everyone with the same Sun sign does not have the same personality. The subsidiary influences of the sign positions of the planets is further modified by the angles between them (referred to as aspects), as well as by their house positions (another set of 12 divisions)."

Brief Summary
The quote from the book that I have taken shows exactly what I wanted to show my audience. It explains that sun-sign astrology is not as simple as the main population think it is and also gives a brief explanation of how other signs influence your personality.

What I was hoping to find out
I was hoping to find some more information on the influences from other planets and their placement on a person’s personality.

What I learned from the source
I learned that the angles between the planets (called aspects) and their house positions are also an element that change your personality. This makes it even more difficult for people to have the same personality.

Reliability of the source
James R. Lewis (the author) has worked as a professional astrologer for more than 25 years.

Where next?

Next, I want to create a questionnaire as primary research to find the opinions of my target population.
